Co-op Values

We are registered as a Co-operative Society, registration number 398IP. This means we abide by rules which are set out in our registration and include:

• All Members have one vote regardless of how many shares they hold
• The Board is elected by the Members
• No Member, except another registered Society, may hold more than 100,000 Shares
• Only Members are eligible for the Board

A co-operative society operates much like a traditional limited company except that the voting rights are distributed equally amongst the members, regardless of the number of shares held. Drumlin Wind Energy has a minimum share holding of 250 and a maximum of 20,000. Hence a stake in the co-op is within easy reach of almost everyone but no single individual or organisation can have a controlling interest.

We are guided by the co-operative principles set out by the International Co-operative Alliance:

Voluntary & Open Membership

Democratic Member Control

Economic Participation

Autonomy & Independence

Education, Training & Information

Co-operation Among Co-operatives

Concern For Community
