About Drumlin Wind Energy Co-operative
Drumlin Wind Energy Co-op owns and operates 6 x 250kW turbines in locations across Northern Ireland. As a co-operative, we raised the money to purchase the turbines through community shares: enabling ordinary people and local organisations to become members and invest for a reasonable financial return in the project.
Drumlin Co-op raised £2.7 million in 2012 to build the first four 250kW WTN turbines on four separate sites in Northern Ireland (Cavanoneill, Aghafad, Ballyboley and Parkgate). Then in 2014 Drumlin Co-op raised a further £1.2 million in a second share offer for two further sites at Ballyrobert, Co. Antrim and Cavanakill, Co. Armagh each with a 250kW turbine.
In 2024, we held another share offer and a bond offer to raise funds to repower the turbines at Aghafad and Ballyboley. We raised a total of close to £1.5 million and both turbines were repowered in early 2025 - these new turbines have twice the efficiency of the originals.

Working with Energy4All
Energy4All was established by Baywind Co-op, the find co-operatively owned wind project in the UK, on a not-for-profit basis in 2002 for the sole purpose of facilitating the ownership and operation of renewable energy projects by local or community-based co-operatives.
Energy4All was involved in the development of the Project alongside renewable energy specialists NRG Solutions, and they now manage the assets and the day-to-day operations of Drumlin Co-op through a management contract.
Energy4All has dedicated development staff working throughout the UK, utilising key partnerships to promote community renewables. Energy4All is owned by the Co-op’s it creates.
You can register your interest to hear about opportunities to join community energy societies across the UK.
